Penang Tropical Fruit Farm

Overview

Penang Tropical Fruit Farm is home to Southeast Asia's largest collection of fruits. Spanning 25 acres in the northwest of Penang, the orchard showcases over 200 species of edible fruits from tropical and subtropical fruit trees sourced across Malaysia and from as far as Central and South America, Central Africa, India, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and the Pacific Islands. Today, the orchard boasts a collection of more than 200 different fruit species, with the list continuing to grow.

Established in 1993, the farm was founded with a mission to conserve rare and exotic fruit trees, educate both local and international visitors about Malaysia's rich botanical heritage, and contribute meaningfully to eco- and agro-tourism. Sustainability lies at the heart of the farm's operations, with organic fertilisers — some made from recycled fruit waste — used to nurture the land, and chemicals applied only when absolutely necessary.

Visitors can explore the orchard through guided tours that include fruit tastings of at least 15 varieties (Miracle Fruit, Durian, Jackfruit etc), along with light snacks, fresh juices, and a specially prepared buffet for pre-booked groups.

One of the most talked-about highlights is the Miracle Fruit — a rare berry from West Africa that temporarily alters your taste buds, making every sour fruit you eat afterwards taste remarkably sweet for up to an hour. It is genuinely one of those experiences visitors remember long after leaving the farm.

There's varieties of fruits you may discover and availability change with the seasons, but visitors can typically encounter a wide range of tropical and exotic fruits across the farm and with over 200 species on the grounds, your guide will introduce you to whatever is freshest and in season on the day of your visit.
