Matta Fair Penang 2026: Northern Malaysia's Largest International Travel Fair

MATTA Fair Penang 2026 returns on April 25 to 26, 2026 at a brand-new venue: the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC) at The Light City, Gelugor. This is the first time the Penang edition moves away from Setia SPICE Arena, bringing the fair to one of the state's newest and largest exhibition spaces.

The 2025 Penang edition welcomed 40,000 visitors and generated RM25 million in sales. With a new, larger venue in 2026, the fair is targeting over 50,000 visitors and more than RM30 million in sales, cementing its position as the leading travel fair in Northern Malaysia.

As the second-largest MATTA Fair in Malaysia after the main national event in MITEC, Kuala Lumpur, this year's edition has 320 booths registered across 90 exhibitors, covering both international and domestic travel products and services.

What's New in Matta Fair Penang 2026?

The biggest change this year is the venue. PWCC is Penang's newest and largest MICE facility, located at The Light City in Gelugor, roughly halfway between Penang International Airport and Georgetown. The column-free exhibition hall can accommodate up to 10,000 guests, and the complex sits along a 750-metre sea promenade with direct views of the Penang Bridge. Parking for over 2,900 vehicles is available on-site.

The move to PWCC also fits squarely into the broader Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, positioning Penang as a top-tier destination for both domestic and international visitors this year. Tourism Malaysia Northern Region is bringing 20 booths to the fair this year, with state tourism organisations including the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) and Johor Tourism also participating.

In conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026, MATTA is promoting domestic tourism, including offering a special booth rate of RM1,000 about 60% lower than usual to encourage participation from local travel agents.
